KUCHING, Dec 19: Kuching police have arrested a 36-year-old local man suspected of involvement in a cable theft at Jalan BDC.

Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the arrest was made on Thursday (Dec 18) while the suspect was allegedly committing the crime alongside two other individuals, who remain at large and are currently being tracked.

The case is being investigated under Section 431A of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both.

“Police records show that the suspect has a history of 13 prior criminal offences, and a preliminary urine test indicated that he tested positive for drugs,” Alexson said in a statement today.

He assured that police efforts to track the remaining suspects are ongoing.

Kuching police are urging members of the public with information about the incident to contact the case investigating officer, SJN Asan Osman, at 019-867 5550, or report suspicious individuals through the Kuching District Police Control Centre at 082-24444 or any nearby police station. — DayakDaily
