363 honoured with Pingat Perkhidmatan Setia

SIBU, March 21: Maria Ganing and Yusof Pahari led 363 civil servants from 22 government bodies to receive the Pingat Perkhidmatan Setia (Loyalty Service Medal) from Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg here today.

Maria and Yusof, both from the Education Department, have served the state for 42 years.


There were 15 individuals who have been civil servants for between 40 and 41 years.

Sibu Resident Charles Siaw, who is also one of the medal recipients, clocked 33 years.

In his speech, Abang Johari reminded those present that the civil servant is the backbone of the government’s machinery.

“It (civil service) is the main catalyst that triggers transformation, innovation and productivity in the society,” he emphasised.

Also present were Second Finance Minister Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh and State Secretary Tan Sri Mohd Morshidi Abdul Ghani. — DayakDaily
