KUCHING, Aug 3: A total of 35 vehicles are taking part in the State-Level Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2023 Convoy travelling from Kuching to Lawas to spread messages of nationalism.
The convoy, which is seeing participation from various government agencies, private companies, government-linked companies (GLC) and private agencies in the State, will on August 8 start at Japen Sarawak headquarters and depart for Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Saratok and Sibu), followed by Sibu, Tatau, Bintulu on August 9.
On August 10, the convoy will make its way to Bintulu, Miri and Limbang, followed by Limbang and Lawas on August 11, Sipitang on 12 August, and Lawas on August 13. On August 14, the convoy will head to Brunei Darussalam and Bintulu, before returning to Kuching on August 15.
Speaking during the launching ceremony held at Sarawak Contingent Police headquarters (IPK) at Jalan Badruddin today, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the convoy this year will cross the Sarawak border to Sipitang to join the KMJG Japen Sabah team.
“I hope that at every stopover, every community in this State will give them a warm welcome and support to the convoy which bears a message of patriotism and national spirit of Malaysia,” he said.
He also called for all Sarawakians to show the spirit of unity in support of the sovereignty of this country throughout this national month.
“Show that spirit by flying the ‘Jalur Gemilang’ in every government, private premises, villages, longhouses and even on their respective vehicles,” he added.
Also present during the ceremony was Deputy Sarawak Premier Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian. — DayakDaily
