KUCHING, May 28: A 34-year-old motorcyclist was killed after he lost control of his motorcycle and rammed into the rear of a car along Jalan Diplomatik this morning.
Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the fatal incident occurred at about 7am, with the Operations Room of IPD Kuching receiving a report on the crash at approximately 7.10am.
“Based on initial investigations, the victim was travelling from Taman Kopodim towards Jalan Demak when he is believed to have lost control of his motorcycle before crashing into a car that had stopped at a red traffic light.
“The impact caused the car to be pushed forward, colliding with another vehicle in front, resulting in a three-vehicle pile-up,” he said in a statement today.
The motorcyclist was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics from Sarawak General Hospital. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and investigations are ongoing.
Police have reminded road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic regulations to prevent such tragedies. — DayakDaily
