TYT and wife make CNY rounds in Miri

MIRI, Feb 7: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and his wife Toh Puan Raghad Kurdi Taib paid Chinese New Year visits to a number of friends and acquaintances in Miri today (Thursday).

Accompanying the couple on their visits which kicked off at 10.45am, were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Assistant Minister of Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat, Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting and Miri Resident Mastapa Julaihi.


Their first stop was at Miri Housing executive chairman Dato Prof (Dr) Lau Siew Wai’s residence at Hill Top Garden here before the entourage proceeded to Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin’s residence in Tanjong Lobang.

Lau has been known to be a close friend of Taib’s for the past 30 years and Taib would not fail to visit the former during Chinese New Year.

The entourage then stopped by Interhill managing director Datuk Hii Chan Pee’s open house also located at Tanjong Lobang.

Taib’s entourage wrapped up his Chinese New Year visiting with a stop at Samling Group founder Tan Sri Dr Yaw Teck Seng’s residence in Marina Bay where the host and guests had lunch together.

On Friday, Taib and wife are scheduled to fly to Sibu for similar visits. — DayakDaily
