KUCHING, July 29: The second phase of the Sarawak-Sabah Link Road (SSLR) project has been approved and is expected to begin in 2023, with a estimated completion time of five years.
Senior Works Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof said despite some difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the project schedule has not been affected.
“As for the proposed implementation of the Phase 2 SSLR project, this project will involve four packages.
“Package 1 is 45km from Mulu to Long Seridan, Package 2 is 92km from Long Seridan to Nanga Medamit, Package 3 is 98km from Long Lopeng to Long Komap, Ba’kelalan, while Package 4 is 91km from Rh Aling to Long Merarap.
“The estimated total length of the road is 326km,” he said in Parliament on Wednesday (July 27), according to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).
For the record, the entire SSLR project involves the construction of total 403km long road from Mulu to Kampung Gelugos and will connect Sarawak and Sabah without passing through Brunei. — DayakDaily
