KUCHING, Aug 2: A 31-year-old man from Kampung Jerijeh in Tanjung Manis, who was reported missing on Aug 1, was found dead.
According to a report from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre today, the deceased, identified as Kasim Ahmad, was found in a drain at 7.30am by members of the public not far from where the victim was reported to be missing.
The body was then retrieved by police with the help of villagers and was later taken to a nearby mosque for identification and further action.
On Aug 1, the victim was reported to be missing after failing to return home from a fishing trip about 500 metres from his house.
The Bomba operations centre received a call regarding the incident at 11.56pm and then deployed Bomba Tanjung Manis to the location.
Following that, after several discussions with the police and the victim’s family members, they agreed that the search operation would commence today (Aug 2). — DayakDaily
