31 councillors from MCC reappointed for 6 month term till year end

MIRI, July 13: A total of 31 councillors of the Miri City Council (MCC) were sworn in after their reappointment for an additional six months by the Sarawak government.

Their term extension takes effect from July 1 to Dec 31 this year.


“I would like to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the State government under the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Dato Sri Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian,” Miri mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang said at the ceremony.

“We would like to reaffirm our pledge to serve faithfully and professionally and discharge our duties with diligence and dedication towards realising the Council’s vision of a smart, green, vibrant and most liveable Resort City,” he added.

The declaration of acceptance of office by councilliors took placed at Level 9 of the New Miri City Hall in Marina here.

“Soon after the declaration of our acceptance of reappointment, we will immediately get back to work and carry out our services and programmes as planned,” Yii pointed out.

He emphasied that councilliors should equip and prepare themselves to face the many tough challenges ahead of them. — DayakDaily
