MUKAH, March 27: A 30-year-old man is feared drowned after being thrown from a boat near Bungan Kecil along the Igan River yesterday (March 26).
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Mukah responded to the emergency at 2.30pm and a team of firefighters were swiftly dispatched to the scene.
Preliminary reports indicate that the victim’s boat struck a drifting log at around 2pm, causing him to be thrown into the river.
He was identified as a technician working for a private company.
A search and rescue (SAR) operation was launched, with teams conducting a river search within a one-kilometre radius from upstream to downstream. Villagers assisted using their boats.
As of 6.30pm, the victim has yet to be found. The SAR operation will resume today with the support from other agencies. — DayakDaily
