KUCHING, Feb 28: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has helped some 3,000 families suffering from flash floods throughout Sarawak in the form of donations and food aid.

Sarawak PKR Kuching Division Women chief Cherishe Ng, in stating this, said 150 families at Kampung Sinar Budi under Batu Kawa constituency are among the beneficiaries.

“We brought mattresses, pillows, food packets, rice and eggs for the victims who are affected.

“So, that is all we are here to do today. We have been helping, be it on a small or big scale and that is what I want to highlight to some ministers who have been saying that we (PKR) have not been doing work,” she said.

Sharing the same opinion, Bandar Kuching PKR chief Dominique Ng asserted that PKR has been going down to the ground to provide food aid to the families in trouble inspite of the constituencies they are in.

He was rebutting a previous statement by one of the deputy chief ministers, saying that opposition parties such as PKR, Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) are nowhere to be seen when the people need help.

“I’m sorry he said that. We have been doing a lot of food aid, he may not have seen us.

“And for the deputy chief minister to say that he has been helping the people, that is his duty as the government of the day to help the people in need, so don’t talk politics with us.

“We are the opposition parties here and we still did our best. So, to say that we have not done our part, I think he is wrong,” he said during a food aid campaign for flood victims at Kampung Sinar Budi multipurpose hall, Batu Kawa here today. — DayakDaily
