300 underprivileged families receive food aid from Yayasan Petronas, Petronas Carigali in conjunction with Gawai

MIRI, May 22: Yayasan Petronas and Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd Sarawak Asset (PCSB-SKA) contributed essential food supplies to some 300 underprivileged families in Miri and Bintulu in conjunction with the upcoming Gawai Dayak celebration today.

The contribution was made under its ‘Memacu Kehidupan: Hari Gawai Dayak 2023’ programme (formerly known as Sentuhan Kasih festive programme) in collaboration with the Sarawak Welfare Department (JKM).

Each family received essential food items such as rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour, salt, tinned sardines, tea, Milo, raw groundnuts, rice vermicelli, sweet soy sauce, soy sauce, coffee, and festive cookies.

In addition, the beneficiaries received Petronas Mesra gift cards worth RM20 each, which can be used to purchase essential food items or petrol at any Petronas station in Bintulu and Miri.

PCSB-SKA senior general manager Anuar Ismail said the programme aimed to help deserving families celebrate the upcoming Gawai Dayak festival in a more meaningful way.

“We hope our small contribution will help bring joy to these families as they prepare for the upcoming Gawai Dayak celebrations.”

The ‘Memacu Kehidupan’ initiative aims to provide food assistance to those in need during major celebrations in Malaysia, allowing them to celebrate the festive season with joy, he added.

“It is designed to foster a sense of community and support during these special occasions,” Anuar said.

Also present were Miri Deputy Resident Juan Ubit, Miri District officer Siti Rohanie Yusuf and Yayasan Petronas executive officer Shariah Nelly Francis. — DayakDaily
