300 local taekwondo competitors battle it out at one-day poomsae championship

KUCHING, Dec 5: Some 300 participants from 40 training centres, primary and secondary schools from Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Bau, and Lundu Divisions competed recently at the Kuching Taekwondo and Self-Defense Club (KTSDC) Sarawak Taekwondo Association (WTF)-SK Madrasah Invitational Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2022 held at the main hall of SK (A) Datuk Haji Abdul Kadir Hassan, Petra Jaya.

According to a press release, SK Madrasah and KTSDC (WTF) collaborated to organise the one-day poomsae tournament, assisted by a technical crew and coaches.

Tanjong Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan, who is also the Taekwondo Malaysia (WTF) president, told the press during the event’s closing ceremony that the event is an essential aspect of building the club and grooming new talent, as well as to provide a competitive environment for contestants to develop and sharpen their skills, expose them to tournaments, and foster the virtues of etiquette, perseverance, self-control, friendship, and sportsmanship.

Azizul officiated at the closing ceremony last Saturday (Dec 3), in the presence of the State technical chairman, grandmaster Tan Check Joon, SK Madrasah headmaster Ishak Dahlan, and delegates from both SK Madrasah and KTSDC (WTF). — DayakDaily
