KUCHING, Sept 7: Thirty performing acts will be doing their best to entertain audiences at Kuching Busking Festival 2023 which will be held from Sept 15 to 17.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Snowdan Lawan said the performers also stand a chance to win prize money in their respective categories during the festival which is being held for the first time.

“This competition can become an annual affair if it receives encouraging responses,” he told a press conference held at Baitulmakmur Building 2 here today.

He added that the festival could also become a platform for Sarawakians to showcase their talent.

“It will be a lively addition to the Malaysia Day celebration on Sept 16 and we hope that the participants will wear something traditional to represent our culture,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kuching Busking Festival director Mike Lim reminds the participants to not include anything related to politics, race, religion and sex.

He also said the participants are welcome to share their talents, creativity and performances which should comply with the laws and regulations set, including to adhere to locally accepted conduct.
