KUCHING, Jan 5: The sight of three hornbills resting on the Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) N75 Senadin service centre yesterday (Jan 4) has been interpreted as a sign of good luck and blessing for Senadin assemblyman Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

The rare sight of three hornbills together in an urban area, what more next to a sign bearing the GPS logo which is also a hornbill, left many netizens including Lee himself astonished.

The birds were spotted by Lee and other members of the public. The hornbills were seen to be flying around above the building and resting on the roof for about 30 minutes before leaving.

“Three hornbills came to GPS Senadin N75 Service Centre this sunny afternoon. They must have seen the big GPS hornbill (logo) and felt very much at home. They were there for about an hour,” said Lee in a social media post yesterday (Jan 4).

A number of comments left by netizens on Lee’s post saw the hornbills’ visit as a sign of good fortune for Lee and GPS.

According to local beliefs, it is considered good luck when a hornbill flies over or lands on a premises. — DayakDaily
