KOTA SAMARAHAN, April 13: Three health clinics will be built in Serian, Siburan and Tabuan Jaya starting this year to cope with the increasing population.

Deputy Minister of Health Dr Lee Boon Chye said while the Siburan one had been tendered out, the other two tenders — for Serian and Tabuan Jaya — had been closed and expected to be awarded to the contractors soon.

“The Serian and Siburan ones will be of Type 3, while the Tabuan Jaya one will be Type 2. Type 2 is bigger and better equipped.

“All constructions are expected to start this year,” he told reporters after officiating at the World Salt Awareness Week 2019 at Summer Mall here this afternoon.

Dr Lee, however, could not reveal the construction cost off-hand.

Meanwhile, on the proposed Sri Aman General Hospital, Dr Lee said the hospital’s construction was in progress although the completion date had been delayed.

He said the hospital could be completed either at the end of this year or early next year.

As for the Petra Jaya Hospital, he said the construction was currently in the process of tendering out.

He said previously the initial contractor could not complete the job on time.

“Despite given repeated extensions of time, we terminated the contractor and now is re-tendering,” said Dr Lee. — DayakDaily
