KUCHING, Dec 11: The Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) successfully captured a 3.9-metre-long crocodile in Kampung Semariang Batu today as part of its crocodile removal operation along the Sarawak River’s designated ‘Croc-Free Zone.’

According to a report by TVS, the crocodile was caught after taking the bait set by the SFC SWAT team.

“The crocodile removal operation, conducted from Dec 10 to 17, 2024, was launched in response to public complaints about crocodile sightings in the affected areas.

“One crocodile was successfully captured but had already died,” the statement revealed.

In response to the sightings, the SFC SWAT team initiated a targeted mission to track and reduce the crocodile population along the river.

Methods employed during the operation included setting baited hooks and, where necessary, the use of firearms.

“SFC appeals to local residents to provide full cooperation to ensure the operation can be carried out successfully and safely,” the statement added. — DayakDaily
