SIBU, June 5: Five persons were killed while five more were injured in an accident involving two vehicles at Mile 40 Jalan Sibu-Bintulu today.

The deceased have been named as Alicesha Bathrish Langi, 24, Allesandro Collin Stewart, 2, Marcos Marican, 26, Marican@Langkan Legi, 61, and one unidentified male.

Selangau Fire and Rescue Department in an update said they were alerted of the accident at about 10.10am by a member of the public.

“The accident involved a collision between two passenger cars,” it said.

The five deceased were pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene. Four other victims sustained light injuries while one person was seriously injured.

The injured had been referred to the Selangau clinic for medical observation.

Government agencies involved in the operation include the Civil Defence Force and the police. — DayakDaily
