KUCHING, May 5: A fire nearly destroyed a shop at Jalan Airport in Kapit this morning.
In a report from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call was received at 2.20am, and firefighters from the Kapit station were deployed, arriving at 2.24am after travelling 3km.

“The fire damaged approximately 80 per cent of the structure, starting from the ground floor before spreading to the floor above,” said the report.
The report noted that firefighters faced difficulty accessing the premises due to obstructions from goods at the entrance.
Firefighters managed to control the fire by 4.12am. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
