BAU, Sept 9: Some 2,842 students, aged 12 to 17 from four secondary schools in Bau will be inoculated against Covid-19.

Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep said the process to vaccinate the students with their first vaccine dose which starts today will be completed this Sunday (Sept 12).

“For the four secondary schools here (in Bau district), we expect the process to give the first dose of the vaccination to all the 2,842 students to be completed by Sept 12.

“And by Oct 3, we will have the second dose to complete the process of vaccination (two doses),” Henry told reporters today after visiting the vaccination exercise at SMK Singai.

The four secondary schools in Bau are SMK Singai (480 students), SMK Bau (506), SMK Lake (928) and SMK Paku (928).

For SMK Bau students, the rollout for the first dose of vaccination is scheduled for tomorrow, while for SMK Lake and SMK Paku students, their vaccinations have been scheduled for Sept 11 and 12.

Henry also said there were 90 non-students and dropouts from the age group, who have registered themselves with the chiefs of their respective villages, and will also be vaccinated.

“For these people (non-students and dropouts) the district office will work together with the Health Ministry because we want them to be vaccinated,” he stressed.

On Bau in general, Henry said 36,380 people have been completely vaccinated, excluding those getting the vaccination elsewhere like at their workplace. — DayakDaily
