KUCHING, Oct 20: Twenty-eight students of a vocational college in Jalan Matang here have tested positive for Covid-19, triggering a new cluster dubbed as the Jalan Matang Cluster.
According to a report by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the Jalan Matang Cluster is an education institution cluster.
A total of 100 people have been swabbed, resulting in 28 people confirmed positive and 72 people testing negative.
SDMC said individuals testing positive have been sent to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) in Kuching for treatment.
With this, there are now 45 active clusters throughout Sarawak, of which four active clusters reported nine new cases today.
They comprise the Air Awat-Awat Cluster with three new cases, Menuang Cluster (3), Putai 2 Cluster (2) and Ensurai Cluster (1).
In the meantime, no new cluster was declared ended today. — DayakDaily
