KUCHING, July 5: A total of 28 recipients, including village development and security committees (JKKKs), parent-teacher associations (PIBGs), non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and schools, received Minor Rural Project (MRP) grants totalling RM313,000 in Tebedu constituency today.
Tebedu assemblyman Dr Simon Sinang Bada urged the recipients to use the MRP funds wisely to have a ripple effect on the economy.
When met after, he emphasised the grant should not be put as a deposit in their bank account to earn interest.
“Instead, you should use it for village projects and to spur economic activities that benefit everybody and the economy.
“It is a small financial stimulus package that could bring a ripple in the local economy,” he told the DayakDaily after the MRP Cheque Presentation Programme at his service centre in Tebakang, Serian, today.
“The grant is to help the people and spent for economic benefits and to implement these projects for the village. Make it as a value to villagers, and the communities,” he said. — DayakDaily
