SIBU, Sept 4: A 27-year old man has been sentenced to five years jail and two strokes of the cane by the Sessions Court today, with two counts of sexual assault on a minor.
The accused Mickswell Makus was also ordered by judge Musyiri Peet to attend counseling and be placed under two years’ police supervision while serving the sentence.
In the first charge, the accused had at about 10pm on March 24 at a house in Jalan Bukit Assek Road, had for sexual purposes touched the chest of a 10-year old child.
The offences was framed under section 14(a) of the Sexual Offence Against Children Act 2017.
As for the second charge at the same place and time, the accused exhibited his naked body to the same victim.
He had thereby committed an offence punishable under section 15(a)(i) of the Sexual Offence Against Children Act 2017.
Mickswell was sentenced to five years imprisonment and two strokes of the cane for the first charge and three years in prison for the second charge.
The court ordered the sentenced to be runned concurrently. — DayakDaily
