KUCHING, Nov 12: A total of 27 rural bridges have been tendered and five are currently under construction across Kuching, Serian, Kapit, Miri, Sibu, and Sarikei through the Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak’s Rural Bridge Transformation Programme (PTJLB).
In a statement, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the initiative demonstrates the Sarawak Government’s continued commitment to strengthening rural connectivity and public safety through the systematic upgrading and replacement of ageing bridges.
“This effort to upgrade and replace these aging bridges are important to ensure that rural people enjoy safe, modern, and sustainable transportation facilities,” he said.
The initiative also supports the aspirations of the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, which aims to provide rural communities with quality and resilient basic infrastructure. – DayakDaily
