SERIAN: Human Resources Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot believes the 14th General Elections will be held soon.
“The prime minister (Datuk Seri Najib Run Razak) has hinted several times the election could be held earlier than expected, so let’s be ready,” he said, after presenting grants to 13 Muslim organisations here recently in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha, according to The Borneo Post.
The six-term Serian MP under Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) said he intends to defend his seat and win with a bigger majority.
It was reported recently that SUPP intends to field six new faces in the seven parliamentary seats it has traditionally been allocated under the state Barisan Nasional (BN). Riot is set to be the only incumbent.
