24 ship crew members test positive for Covid-19, leads to new Gom Tujuh Cluster

KUCHING, July 26: The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today revealed the Gom Tujuh Cluster had formed in Bintulu, after 24 new Covid-19 cases were detected.

According to SDMC in a statement today, the Gom Tujuh Cluster is a new workplace cluster involving 50 crew members from an industrial petroleum grade ship (Grade One Manjung 7), which has been anchored in Bintulu since June 30.

“A total of 10 new cases were reported from the cluster today, bringing the total number of positive Covid-19 cases in the cluster to 24 cases, including the index case. Four cases are still waiting for their laboratory test results, while 22 other cases are negative,” it said.

The committee added, all of the positive cases from the cluster have been isolated and are currently undergoing further treatment in Bintulu Hospital and in Quarantine and the Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) in the district. — DayakDaily
