KUCHING, April 5: A 24-door longhouse in Bukit Limau Tinjar, Miri, was razed to the ground in a fire incident this evening.
According to Lopeng fire station in a statement today after receiving the call regarding the incident at 10.16pm, nine firefighters led by PBK II (KUP) 5759 Wan Sakawi were rushed to the location which is about 117 kilometres from the station.
“Based on the initial report and information received from the longhouse chief Tuai Rumah Jeff Anchum, the incident occurred at 7.30pm. However, all 180 villagers managed to escape to safety,” it said.
At the time of writing, firefighters are still on their way to the location using logging road, which is challenging and slippery after the rain and there is no communication line along the way to the scene. — DayakDaily
