BINTULU, Feb 4: A 23-year-old man was successfully rescued after being reported missing in a forested area behind IKM Bintulu on Monday night (Feb 3).

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a distress call at 8.08pm and dispatched a team from the Bintulu Fire Station, which arrived at the scene at 8.30pm. The location was approximately 16 kilometers from the station.

Led by Syukri Abdullah, the rescue team found the victim about 440 meters inside the forest.

After administering initial treatment, the rescuers carried him out using the piggyback method before handing him over to the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) for hospital transfer.

The operation, which involved 10 personnel and two emergency vehicles (one Fire Rescue Tender and one EMRS unit), concluded at 9.23pm once the situation was deemed safe and under control. – DayakDaily
