KUCHING, Aug 5: The state constituency of Mambong has been earmarked to be a coffee belt covering an area of about 23,000 acres.
The project is a major endeavour of its assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil to help his constituents enjoy better socio-economic status.
Yesterday, Dr Jerip, who is also the Assistant Minister of Transport, held a meeting with several associations within the Mambong area to discuss the planting of the crop, while at the same affirming support for the incumbent assemblyman for the project to continue.
The associations attending the meeting were Persatuan Bianah, Perbiya, Biperoh, Bra’ang, Segu Bunuk, Bisitang, Sentah Asar, Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) branches of Penrissen, Padawan and Siburan, Orang Ulu Siburan and Persatuan Wanita Mambong.
The meeting at his office at Bangunan Baitulmakmur was also attended by Sarawak Administrative Officer (SAO) from Siburan and Padawan sub-district offices, Ranum Bari and Rangen Jamang, respectively, and Kuching division agriculture officer Chong Mui Sia.
“We give full support for the development of the coffee belt to cover Mambong constituency and in view of this major endeavour, we therefore affirm our full support to the incumbent, so as to give (our support for the) continuity and realisation of the project,” read a resolution passed after the meeting.
Requesting the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) leadership to take the affirmation seriously, the resolution passed also outlined their support for Dr Jerip to become the candidate for Mambong in the coming state election. — DayakDaily
