KUCHING, Aug 9: About 2,200 residents of Kampung Empila in Kota Samarahan participated in an Active Case Detection (ACD) exercise after the village was put under a second Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).

According to a report from Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) today, the ACD in the village is being conducted in the compound of the As Sobrim Mosque.

“Upon the completion of the swab test, the Health Department will analyse the result to identify the rate of Covid-19 infections in the area,” it said.

On June 4, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) ordered the village be placed under its first lockdown for two weeks until June 17, 2021, after sporadic and unlinked Covid-19 cases were detected in the area.

Following that, on Aug 6, SDMC announced that a second EMCO would be enforced in the village for two weeks starting from Aug 7 until Aug 20. — DayakDaily
