21 new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak today, Sibu top with 9 cases

KUCHING, Jan 19: Sarawak logged 21 new Covid-19 cases today in seven districts, with Sibu topping the list with nine cases.

With no Covid-19 fatalities reported, this thus pushed the overall State Covid-19 tally so far to 252,646 cases, while the death toll remains unchanged at 1,620.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee’s (SDMC) latest update on the Covid-19 situation in Sarawak, Kuching reported five cases while Lawas has three cases.


Song, Betong, Simunjan and Lawas have one case each.

Of the new cases, there are 15 under Category 1 with no symptoms, five under Category 2 with mild symptoms and one patient under Category 5 with pneumonia and requiring ventilator support.

Currently, there are no active clusters in Sarawak.

Meanwhile, the police have issued eight compounds in Kuching in the past 24 hours for various violations of standard operating procedures (SOP).

All the eight compounds were issued for failure to scan the QR Code on MySejahtera or recording attendance prior to entering a premises. — DayakDaily
