MUKAH, Dec 6: A 20-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a tragic accident at Kilometre 52 on Jalan Mukah-Selangau yesterday (Dec 5).
Mukah District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Muhamad Rizal Alias said preliminary investigations found that the victim was riding a motorcycle from Mukah towards Sibu when he lost control and crashed into a roadside barrier.
“The impact of the collision caused the victim to be thrown from the motorcycle, while the still-moving motorcycle was then hit by a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle driven by a 43-year-old man coming from the opposite direction,” he said, according to TVS News.
He further said the victim suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead by medical personnel at Mukah Hospital.
However, the 4WD driver did not sustain any injuries, and the case is still under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
Witnesses to the incident are urged to contact the Investigating Officer, Inspector Mohd Rahmat Jalimin, at 011-31627137 or visit any nearby police station to assist in the investigation. — DayakDaily
