KUCHING, March 20: The Sumbangsih Raya 2025 festive food contribution by the State government would include instant noodles for uniform and enforcement personnel working during Hari Raya Aidilfitri next year, reveals Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Abang Johari said the inclusion of instant noodles is the suggestion of his wife Datin Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang and it would be an addition to the fruit cake, meat floss, coated peanuts, 3-in-1 coffee and tea packets, and greeting cards that are usually distributed though this programme.

“With the addition of instant noodles, it would be much more filling while enjoying the rest of the food packed,’ he told reporters after officiating at the symbolic handover of food packages for the Sumbangsih Raya 2024 programme at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.

Abang Johari said the Sumbangsih Raya is an annual programme which started in 1990 where food is distributed to those who are on official duty during Hari Raya Aidilfitri by the Sarawak government.

“These little food contributions during the festive holiday would help create a more joyful atmosphere, especially for those who are on duty and far from their families and loved ones,” he said.

He also disclosed that as more enforcement agencies are established in Sarawak, they would be included in the programme.

Abang Johari said that Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Well-Being Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah also welcomed the suggestion.

“This means the Sarawak government will increase the allocation for this programme next year,” he said.

Earlier, Abang Johari and his wife Juma’ani symbolically handed over food contributions to 11 enforcement bodies, including the Malaysian Army (ATM), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) Malaysia Prison Department, Malaysia Immigration Department, Malaysia Royal Customs Department, Road Transport Department (JPJ), Civil Defence Department, People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), and Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS).

Also present were Deputy Sarawak Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Fatimah, State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and various deputy ministers. ā€” DayakDaily
