20,000 bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts expected for 9th Miri Bike Week on Aug 26-28

MIRI, July 31: More than 20,000 bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts from all over Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei are expected to converge at Coco Cabana, Miri for the 9th Miri Bike Week which to be held from August 26 to 28 this year.

Organised by Coastal City MC, the event aims to attract motorcycle enthusiasts from not just across the country, but also from other regions.


The annual event had been put on hold for the past two years, due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Earlier this afternoon, at the 9th Miri Bike Week anniversary celebration, Minister of Transport Sarawak Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin said that the event could give a boost to Sarawak, especially Miri’s economy post-Covd-19.

Lee’s speech text was read out by Cr Jeffery Phang Siaw Foong who represented the minister at the event at Coco Cabana here.

“We expected the programme to support Sarawak’s tourism and economic recovery,” he said.

Also present at today’s event were Cr Lim Chin Aries Leong was representing Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, Pujut assemblyman Adam Yii’s special assistant Kevin Hii and Promin Jaya motoring sport club president Malateh Mahmud. — DayakDaily
