200 Sunny Hill students, staff participate in community service intiative

KUCHING, Nov 15: More than 200 Sunny Hill Secondary School staff and students recently engaged in community service for the school and the 3rd Mile area.

According to a press release, the activity was the brainchild of principal James Jalin who mooted the idea of increasing the students’ awareness and sensitivity towards the school and surrounding neighbourhood’s cleanliness

The objective of the event was to allow students to experience the value of helping others and giving back to the community.

The event was launched by Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) Councilor Wilfred Yap Yau Sin. Also present were Seventh-Day Adventist community service director Pastor Mathew Bandan Mambu, Kapitan Cheong Ek Boh and Hui Sing village security and development committee (JKKK) members, and school director Marilyn Cheng and James.

Prior to implementing the community service, around 225 students participated in a Pathfinder Investiture service. Pathfinder is one of the school’s uniform bodies. — DayakDaily
