KUCHING, Feb 24: The 200-bed Gleneagles Hospital Kuching, located at Jalan Lintang Selatan, is set to open in the second quarter of 2028.
Speaking at the hospital’s groundbreaking ceremony today, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg praised IHH Healthcare for its investment, highlighting its role in advancing medical services and cutting-edge treatment options for Sarawakians and beyond.
“I believe that Gleneagles Hospital has a network that interfaces with all the hospitals under IHH, leveraging their experience to provide the best possible treatment for various illnesses.
“With this, I truly hope that through this interfacing within IHH, they also strengthen their connections with research centres, as there are many emerging diseases that require new treatment methods driven by technology,” he said.
According to a press release issued at the event, the upcoming hospital will feature state-of-the-art medical technology, including AI-assisted diagnostics, robotic surgery systems, and advanced imaging facilities.
It will offer specialised services in cardiology, oncology, orthopaedics, and neurology, ensuring comprehensive medical care.
Upon completion, all doctors, facilities, and medical services from Timberland Medical Centre—also part of IHH’s Gleneagles brand—will relocate to Gleneagles Hospital Kuching. This move aims to provide seamless patient care, enhanced by advanced technology, specialised expertise, and IHH’s shared clinical knowledge and operational efficiencies.
Also present were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, IHH Healthcare chairman Tan Sri Dr Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani, IHH Healthcare Group CEO Dr Prem Kumar Nair, IHH Healthcare Malaysia CEO Jean-François Naa, and Timberland Medical Centre & Gleneagles Hospital Kota Kinabalu CEO Dr Kelvin Ch’ng.
For the record, Gleneagles Hospital in Batu Lintang is one of three new private hospitals set to be built in Kuching within the next three years.
