2 women die as vehicle falls into river near Kpg Semueh Baru in Betong

KUCHING, Oct 7: Two women died while a man and boy escaped after their vehicle plunged into a river near Kampung Semueh Baru in Betong today.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre, they received a call regarding the accident at 11.29am, and firefighters from Bomba Betong were rushed to the location.

The accident involved a four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle where the driver, a man, and a boy were helped out of the vehicle by members of the public and sent to Merindun Clinic before the firefighters’ arrival.


The other two victims, both women, were also brought out of the vehicle by members of the public and were pronounced dead by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH).

The 4WD vehicle in which all four victims travelled in before it plunged into a river near Kampung Semueh Baru near Jalan Lubuk Antu in Betong.

At the time of publication, no identification were found on all four victims.

The remains were later handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
