2 new Covid-19 cases and zero fatality today

KUCHING, May 1: Only two Covid-19 positive cases are reported today where both cases were reported in Kuching.

There are 35 new cases of persons under investigation (PUI) but no fatality related to Covid-19 was reported.


According to a press statement issued by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), 33 patients were discharged from the hospitals where 32 were from Sarawak General Hospital and the remaining patient from Miri Hospital.

The statement also reported that there are 36 cases of PUI pending for laboratory test result.

On a related issue, Betong is now declared as green zone following zero Covid-19 case reported in the last two weeks.

On the MCO, SDMC reported that the compliance was 97.3 per cent.

Yesterday, 31 individuals were caught by the authorities for non-compliance of the MCO while 34 individuals were charged in court.

Since the MCO was enforced on March 18, 1,954 individuals were arrested and 1,363 have been charged in court.

SDMC also reported that currently there are 455 Persons Under Surveillance (PUS) being quarantined in hotels.

Another 213 individuals have been allowed to return home after two weeks of quarantine. — DayakDaily
