2 foreigners fined RM3,000 over forged documents

MIRI, Nov 19: Two foreigners were fined RM3,000 in default to 10 months’ imprisonment at the Sessions Court here yesterday, for entering the country with forged endorsed documents on their passports.

The accused, Chinese national Qiu Daolai, 56, from Fujian, and Vienamese woman Nguyen Thi Hong Thuy’, 24, pleaded guilty to their charges before Judge Steve Ritikos.


Both individuals claimed they had come to Malaysia for social visit and admitted they were not aware that their documents were forged.

According to the charge sheet, Qiu was detained at the Sungai Tujoh Immigration checkpoint in Kuala Baram here on Oct 5, around 5.50pm, while Thi Hong Thuy’ on Oct 11, at 10.45am.

They were charged under Section 56(1) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.

Both of them were referred to the Immigration department for further action upon payment of fine or serving of sentence. — DayakDaily
