2 dead, 1 seriously injured in single-vehicle accident near SMK Sungai Paoh, Sarikei

KUCHING, Feb 16: Two people were killed while another suffered serious injuries in a single-vehicle accident near SMK Sungai Paoh in Sarikei.

According to a report from Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre, a call was received regarding the incident at 1.45pm and Bomba Sarikei was immediately deployed to the location.

The operation commander reported that the incident involved a Proton Wira which fell into a roadside ditch, with three victims reportedly pinned inside.


Following that, fire fighters utilised a rescue tool to extract the victim by cutting the vehicle frame.

Two victims, Chai Chit San, 63, and Yong Kui Fah, 55, were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH), while Chai Yume Xiang, 22, suffered serious injuries and received initial medical treatment at the location before being transported to hospital.

The bodies of the deceased were later handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
