19 evacuated after flood hits SJK Chung Hien in Sarikei

SARIKEI, Jan 14: Nineteen individuals from SJK Chung Hien were evacuated to safety due to the school’s entrance being flooded.

According to a report by the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a call about the incident was received at 11.07am today and firefighters from the Sarikei station were deployed.

“Upon arrival, it was discovered that the entrance to the school was flooded with water levels reaching one metre.

“Firefighters then tied a rope 200 feet in length for the victims to hold on to while wading through the flood.

“The operations commander also instructed them to wear life jackets to ensure their safety,” said the report.

The 19 individuals consisted of 14 teachers, three implementation team members (AKP), and two cleaning contractors. — DayakDaily
