18yo hiker rescued after leg cramps strike on Mount Singai

KUCHING, June 21: Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) personnel, along with the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), today assisted an 18-year-old female hiker who suffered from leg cramps while climbing Mount Singai, near the Catholic Memorial Pilgrimage Centre (CMPC) in Bau.

According to a report, an emergency call was received at 1.42pm, and firefighters from the Bau station were deployed.

Upon arrival, firefighters were informed by the victim’s sibling that she had suffered leg cramps and required assistance.

Rescue personnel quickly located the victim, stabilised her condition, and safely transported her down the mountain using a stretcher.

Her family then took her to the Bau Hospital for further treatment. — DayakDaily
