According to a media release, the major community run was highlighted during a courtesy visit by a nine-member IEM Sarawak delegation to Deputy Premier and Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government Sarawak, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, on Wednesday (Nov 26) at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) Complex.

Led by IEM Sarawak Branch chairman Ir Dr Angelia Liew San Chuin, the delegation briefed Dr Sim on the branch’s programmes, achievements and key initiatives laid out for the 2025/2026 term. The upcoming Engineer’s Run and the IEM Sarawak Annual Dinner 2025 were among the flagship events presented during the engagement.

IEM Sarawak also extended an official invitation to Dr Sim to grace the Engineer’s Run as guest of honour.

Since its inception more than a decade ago, the Engineer’s Run has evolved from a small gathering into a major public event that brings together engineers, families, industry players, government agencies and the wider community, fostering a healthy and inspiring environment.

During the discussion, Dr Sim also spoke at length about the recently passed Building (Amendment) Bill 2025, which aims to modernise Sarawak’s building regulatory framework, strengthen sustainability standards and introduce new green building requirements.

He emphasised that Sarawak is advancing steadily towards a greener, more resilient future and praised the engineering fraternity for its vital role in nation-building and sustainable development.
