KUCHING, Nov 26: A total of 17 police reports have been lodged against the owner of a Facebook account which allegedly blasphemed Christianity.

Civil movement Bulang Birieh Dayak co-founder Alim Ga Mideh said a series of screenshots uploaded by a third party allegedly showed the Facebook account had posted a comment and photo supposedly depicting Jesus Christ with insulting remarks and misinformation on the teachings of Christianity.

“This act is rude and will stir the harmony which exists within the multi-racial and multi-religious Malaysia,” he said in a statement today.

Alim further said another screenshot allegedly showed the Facebook account stating that those who insulted other religions apart from Islam were never arrested.

“This message is dangerous because it will create a misunderstanding and encourage others who do not understand the law to follow suit in insulting other religions apart from Islam,” he added.

Other screenshots allegedly showed the suspect uploading obscene photos and insulting remarks.

Following this, Alim stated 6 police reports were made at Serian Police Station, 5 at Mile 10 Police Station, 4 at Bau Police Station and 2 at Tebedu Police Station today.

“We expect more reports throughout Sarawak this week.

“They all hoped that the police would investigate into the insulting Facebook posts and comments made by [the Facebook account] and take legal action against him to protect the harmony of our nation,” he emphasised. — DayakDaily
