The youth had earlier pleaded guilty to one charge under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which carries a jail term of up to 20 years and whipping upon conviction.

The offence took place at a bus stop along Jalan FAC Matang at about 8pm on April 18.

According to the facts of the case, the accused and the victim met in early March and later became romantically involved. During the relationship, he often took her out around the village and spent time with her without their parents’ knowledge.

On the day of the incident, the accused picked the girl up on a motorcycle and took her to the location. There, he forcibly kissed her on the mouth, molested her, and forced her to have sex with him.

The victim, who was 15 years and eight months old at the time, tried to fight him off but was unsuccessful.

She subsequently lodged a police report, and investigations led to the youth’s arrest on May 19.

The prosecution was led by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurul Aqila Morsalin, while the accused was unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
