MUKAH, Oct 2: A total of 168 recipients from 15 government departments and agencies were honoured with the Long Service Medal in recognition of their dedicated and loyal service to the public sector.
According to a press release, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg presented the awards during a ceremony at the Sarawak Government Administrative Centre today.
The event marked the seventh Long Service Medal presentation ceremony held this year.
Among the recipients, nine were recognised for nearly 40 years of service, with Jamilah Salim from the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) leading with 38 years.
This was followed by eight others who served for 37 years—Patrick Bawing, also from Sarawak JKR, along with Mohd Yusri Azhar Abdullah @ Leo Takip, Phoa Eng Boon, Buang Maharup, Mokhtar Ibrahim, Anthony Hearry Radio, Ubi Ahmad, and Nur Ain Syafika Tan Abdullah. All eight are from the Sarawak Education Department.
Among those present during the ceremony were Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Minister of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and Ukas), Datuk Abdullah Saidol, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Urban Development Datuk Len Talif Salleh, and Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya.

Earlier on, Abang Johari also performed his Friday prayers at Masjid Setia Raja Mukah.
According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), upon arrival, he was greeted by Abdullah, Igan MP Ahmad Johnie Zawawi, and members of the Setia Raja Mosque Mukah Board.
Also present were Asfia, Mohamad Abu Bakar, Juanda, Mukah Resident Bujang Rahman Seli, and heads of government departments. — DayakDaily
