16 people arrested in Bau for defying MCO

16 individuals were arrested by Bau police for flouting the Movement Control Order.

BAU, Apr 15: Bau police have arrested 16 individuals aged between 20 and 64, within 13 hours yesterday for flouting the Movement Control Order (MCO).

District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said those arrested have violated Section 11(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the local Infected Areas) Regulations 2020 which provides a maximum fine of RM1,000 or jailed for up to six months or both.

“Several police teams conducted Ops Covid-19 and Snap Checks in the district between 10am to 11pm.

“Among those detained were one Indonesian housewife and a jobless man from Johor. Others were Malaysian housewives, pensioners, labourers, factory and quarry workers,” Poge said in a statement.

All of them were taken to Bau police station and compounded for flouting the MCO. ā€”DayakDaily
