KUCHING, Nov 16: A 15-year-old student was killed in a road accident involving four vehicles at KM10.5 Jalan Bau-Kuching yesterday (Nov 15).
According to a news report from TVS, Bau district police chief DSP Dr Daram Ruer said the accident that occurred at 7.30pm involved a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), a hatchback vehicle, a sports utility vehicle (SUV), and a motorcycle which the victim was riding pillion with a friend, 18, who is the rider.
“The accident was believed to have occurred when the MPV hit the motorcycle from behind as it was about to enter the right junction of Kampung Peninjau Bau, resulting in both victims on the motorcycle being thrown into the opposite lane and being hit by the SUV and a Perodua Myvi.
“As a result of the accident, the victim was confirmed dead at the scene while the friend was severely injured,” he was quoted by TVS as saying.
He said the case is investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
He also called for those with information regarding the accident to come to the nearest police station to assist in the investigation. — DayakDaily
