KUCHING, July 15: Serian MP Dato Sri Richard Riot Jaem has distributed food baskets worth RM100 each to 1,579 constituents as of today.

Riot said because of the huge number of needy households in his constituency, with the RM300,000 allocation under Pakej Perlindungan Rakyat dan Pemulihan Ekonomi (Pemulih), he could only provide food aid of RM100 each to 3,000 constituents.

The whole process kicked off with sending letters to all village chiefs under Serian parliamentary constituency.

The village chiefs were given the responsibility to identify households urgently needing food assistance from the government.

“As of this afternoon (15/7), a total of 1,579 food baskets have been distributed,” Riot said in a statement today.
