14 items listed under price control scheme for Christmas

KUCHING, Dec 23: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has listed 14 items under the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP), which will be in effect from Dec 23 to 27, in conjunction with the Christmas celebration.

The items are live old chickens (controlled in Sarawak), live pigs, imported bone-in muttons, imported round cabbages from Indonesia and China (excluding Beijing cabbage), tomatoes, green bell peppers, potatoes from China, red chilis, imported large red onions, large yellow onions, carrots, chicken wings, pig intestines, and pork (meat and fat).

According to a press release by KPDN Sarawak, the 2024 Christmas SHMMP will be implemented through the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act (AKHAP) 2011.

Price checks can be done on the KPDN website at www.kpdn.gov.my.

“KPDN Sarawak enforcement officers have inspected 76,853 premises since January 1 until Dec 20, 2024, which resulted in 798 cases involving compound value amounting to RM360,750 and confiscation amounting to RM22,713,690.87,” it said. — DayakDaily
