137 fined for violating MCO in 24 hours

KUCHING, Apr 14: A total of 137 people in Sarawak have been compounded for violating the Movement Control Order (MCO) between Monday and Tuesday morning.

The violators will be fined RM1,000 under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 2020.


According to the police report, Kuching had the most violators which are 30 people, 29 from Sibu, 13 from Sarikei, 11 from Padawan area, seven from Lawas, six from Meradong, five each from Limbang and Julau, four each from Kota Samarahan, Bintulu, Betong and Simunjan, three each from Miri and Song, two each from Serian, Mukah, Tatau and Lubok Antu, and one from Saratok.

Meanwhile, six each from Kuching and Sibu, three each from Miri and Padawan, and one each from Kota Samarahan, Simunjan, and Matu Daro were arrested during the operation.

A total of 511 compounds had been issued and 607 arrests had been made since Mar 18, 2020, which was the first day of the MCO. —DayakDaily
